Creating boundaries to protect your time is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Dr. Dana Nelson says boundaries are important for self-care.

This was something I struggled with myself. When I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, I realized I had to start being more protective and caring of myself. I started protecting my time by pushing things away I didn’t enjoy and adding things that benefited me mentally and physically.

Setting boundaries is difficult because we care what others think and/or we are people pleasers. However, not setting boundaries with our time can lead to burnout and resentment.

Benefits of setting boundaries of your time

1. You develop greater self-assertiveness

In the beginning, it can be difficult to set boundaries but practicing it can make you feel empowered and more self-assured in the long run. Over time, you get better at listening to your feelings and knowing what’s right for you and what’s not.

2. Your needs are more likely to get met
